抄録

Liquide crystalline materials are characterized by an anisotropy and dynamics which originate from a spontaneous formation of soft order. A part of their potential characteristics such as optical anisotropy has been so far used mainly in the field of LCD devices and optical components. Here, a diversity of liquid crystalline materials and possibility of their promising application in a variety of fields is discussed.
