Precise control of helical axis orientation of cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) is important for the development of unique optical properties such as reflection, diffraction, refraction and polarization conversion. However, the three-dimensional control of helical axis of CLCs is yet explored till now. In this study, we succeeded to develop a facile method for synthesizing monodisperse CLC polymer microspheres in one-step, and revealed that the helical axes are radially orientated in microspheres. We evaluated optical properties of microspheres, and investigated the effect of the helical axis orientation.
