It is known that cholesteric (Ch) droplets dispersed in its isotropic (Iso) phase exhibit unidirectional rotation under a temperature gradient, which is called the Lehmann effect. About the driving force of the rotation, several recent works suggested that it could be convection induced by the Ch-Iso interface rather than heat flux. In this report, we show the experimental evidence that the Lehmann rotation occurs even in a system without convection. Making a Ch-Iso coexisting sample with a flat interface separating the two phases in the direction parallel to the isotherm, we succeeded in detecting director rotation at a constant angular velocity. The phenomenon is expected to contribute to the elucidation of the role of the Ch-Iso interface in the Lehmann effect.
