Abstract

A polysiloxane containing hygroscopicity and photocrosslinkable group was synthesized by sol-gel reaction of silane coupling agents. Thin films consisting of surfactant (lyotropic liquid crystal) and polysiloxane were prepared by spin-coating method. Humidity-controlled GI-XRD measurements of composite films showed that the liquid crystalline phase of the surfactant changed in response to humidity. It was also able to fix the hexagonal structure of the surfactant by ultraviolet light irradiation. Removal of the surfactant from the composite film allowed for its development to a mesoporous material.
