Abstract

Photorefractive (PR) effect is one of hologram formation method. In a previous study, fast PR effect was observed in ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLC) because the macroscopic polarization (spontaneous polarization) responds directly to the photo-induced electric field. In this study, we synthesized a new C8-3T-ML (methyl- (L) -Lactate), which has a higher dipole moment than conventional ones, in order to further speed up the PR effect.
