In the process of forming polymer network liquid crystals (PNLCs) from mixtures of liquid crystals (LCs) and reactive mesogens (RMs), the thermoresponsive behavior in orientation order of these two liquid crystal molecules was systematically and quantitatively investigated. Focusing on 6CB/RM257 mixed systems, the temperature dependence of the degree of orientation order was examined by spectroscopic measurements at different stages of photopolymerization induced phase separation (PPIPS). The molecular orientation order of the systems is thermally transformed between three phases. The two phase transition temperatures between three phases decrease and become nonuniform as PPIPS progresses.
