抄録

Non-mechanical beam steering (NMBS) based on liquid crystals (LCs) is of massive interest in recent years for potential applications such as autonomous vehicles and near-eye displays. To date, most of the studies associated with NMBS based on LCs employ optical phased array (OPA), which utilizes principle of optical diffraction. However, LC-based NMBS have a drawback in that the steering speed is very slow. In this study, we demonstrate refraction-type non-mechanical beam steering with high steering frequency of more than 1 kHz by using a thick LC gel films.
