Abstract

Gold(I) complexes, enabling to show aggregation-induced emission (AIE) property, are attracted to advanced materials for achieving solid-state phosphorescence. Such AIE materials emit light in aggregated state, and their luminescent properties can be tuned by the control of aggregated structure. We have synthesized a rod-like liquid-crystalline gold complexes showing high-quantum-yield phosphorescence even at room temperature in the crystalline state. In this study, we focused on discovery of new functions using mesogenic gold(I) complexes by changing the size of the crystals. We investigated the behavior of crystallization through the fabrication of various size crystals and the evaluation of their luminescence behavior.
