Abstract

We synthesized a liquid crystalline perylene bisimide derivative bearing a triethylene oxide chain and the cyclotetrasiloxane rings. This compound was hybridized with lithium triflate and the mixture exhibited a columnar hexagonal phase. From thermal analysis, lithium triflate should be dispersed homogeneously although segregation of lithium triflate in a thin film state from an AFM observation. A dielectric study indicated a relaxation process originated from motion of lithium ions between triethylene oxide chains.
