Liquid crystal (LC) millimeter-wave devices generally have the problem of extremely slow operation due to the thick LC layer. Therefore, novel driving method by applying bias magnetic field has been studied. However, a detailed study on the influence of various conditions on the LC cell has not been conducted yet. In this study, we examined the influence of the bias magnetic field, driving voltage, and cell thickness to investigate the optimal driving method for the improvement of the operating speed of the thick LC cell.
