Abstract

Gold nanoparticles have attracted wide attention due to the unique optical properties. Liquid crystalline gold nanoparticles is further expected to lead to the amplification of the various properties. In this study, we synthesized gold nanoparticles with azobenzene moieties. Particle size distribution of gold nanoparticles with azobenzene moieties was more uniform than that with 1-decanethiol. The LC behavior of obtained gold nanoparticles as well as ligand dimer (SS form) obtained as a by-product will be presented.
