In nematic liquid crystals with high conductivity, turbulence with disclinations occurs when a strong electric field is applied. Furthermore, it has recently been found that the apparent viscosity becomes negative and spontaneous shear flow appears using a rotational rheometer. In this study, we show that simulations using continuum theory can reproduce the turbulence, disclinations, negative viscosity, spontaneous shear flow, and discuss the mechanism.
