Abstract
In this work, we synthesized thiophene containing mesogenic group or alkyl side chain in its 3-position in order to increase solubility and softness. Copolymers were obtained by dehalogenation polycondensation with zero value nickel, organometal complex, as catalyst, and examined their phase transition behavior and electrochemical properties. It was identified that the liquid crystallinity of the polymers depended on component ratio of mesogenic monomers. The Polymers containing mesogenic monomers over 90mol% exhibited nematic phase, while any typical liquid crystalline texture did not show for the polymer consists of 80mol% mesogenic monomers. The polymers were identified that they were electrochemically active.
