Abstract

A new pitch measurement method of chiral nematic liquid crystal has been studied. Cell gaps near disclination lines are calculated from measured spectrum of Canos wedge cell placed between crossed polarizers. The chiral pitch can be obtained correctly from the difference of the cell gaps.
