Abstract
We studied quantitatively the influence of ionic and organic contaminants on the voltage holding ratio(VHR) of liquid crystal display panels, which is related to the display image stability of TFT-LCD, by means of forced contamination experiments and calculated simulation. From the simulation, we found that both a 0.3n C/cm2 ion density generated from NaCl and a contamination of about 0.2% due to N-methyl-2-pyrolidone cause decrease in the VHR from 100 to 95%. Inorganic contaminants cause the VHR to decrease more drastically than organic contaminants.
