Dielectric response of a liquid crystalline side-chain polymethacrylate having a pcyano-phenyl benzoate group in the side chain (PMCN) in the presence of a.c. electric field have been investigated over a wide range of experimental conditions. As a results, the alignment behavior of PMCN with applied field in the vicinity of phase transition (108.8℃) did not observed. On the other hand, It was found that these behavior were observed by cooling from isotropic phase (118.8℃) to liquid crystal phase (102.8℃) in the presence of a.c. electric field. In addition, we discuss the time dependence of the alignment from liquid crystal phase to isotropic phase.
