Abstract
Polarization and depolarization dynamics have been examined using (+E)0(-E)0 step-wise electric field with respect to antiferroelectric MHPOBC in its SmCA* phase. The switching time of the polarization process obeyed a powar law τ ∝En with n=6〜7 whereas that of the depolarization process was 2〜3ms being independent of E. A notable overshoot phenomenon was found to occur when the applied field was switched to a slightly negative value.
