Abstract
In one “hypophysäre Magersucht,” as the substitution therapy was of no effect, an anterior pituitary of a calf was implanted in the retroperitoneal cavity of the patient.
We noticed thereby the increase of body-weight (by 14.0k.g.), disappearance of gastrointestinal complaints, enlargement of corpus uteri, improvement of severe gastroptosis, and normalisation of carbohydrate metabolism.
The remarkable fact was that the patient had the normal menses since the 46 th day of transplantation after two years' abscence, and had twice pregnancies, in which once normol delivery and lactation.
For 5 years she has been in good condition, we believe, therefore, the persistent effect of the transplantation.
