Abstract
From the results obtained by lizuka and my associates since 1929, I claimed. “Diabetes mellitus is syndrome induced by certain toxic substances and loss of pancreatic function is no sole etiologic factor of diabetes mellitus” and think “if slow progressing changes in pancreas occur, carbohydrate regulating function may be compensated by other organs and in its result no diabetes developes.”
On the basis of this idea, we resected dog pancreas several times and we succeeded in resection of 7/8 without induction of diabetes. (the remaining was 1/8). This fact has been already published in general Meeting of Japanese Medical Association in 1943 (Journal of Japanese Society of Internal Medicine Vol31, No.3, 1943).
Application of a certain method and no treatment make possible total pancreatectomy without development of diabetes, I think, we are continuing this experiments.
