An scale model experiment has been made to estimate the multipath effects of Tokyo Bay Road on ILS of the Tokyo International Airport.
Major multipath sources of the road are composed of Cross Bay Road, Kawasaki Interchange and Tamagawa Bridge close to the airport.
Experimental data show that the road gives considerable effect to the glide path, but little effect to the localizer.
Above all, the multipath effects of Tamagawa Bridge is so remarkable that the path bend due to the bridge is over the ICAO annex 10 tolerance, and it may be decreased by replacing the bridge with an underground road.
