At a request of Japan Civil Aviation Bureau, new ATC Working Positions with Electronic Tabular Display (ETABS)/Touch Input Display (TID) and digital Voice Switching and Control System (VSCS) were studied in order to realize various ATC demands such as facilitation of operation, flexible adaptation for air traffic volume, as well as augmentation of reliability and maintenability. The results of these studies are being presented in installments.
In part 1, mock-up simulation of ATC Working Positions has been discussed.
This Part 2 presents new ATC Consoles such as ETABS/TID and the results of evaluation of these Consoles.
In part 3, prototype of new Working Positions with ETABS/TID and VSCS, and comprehensive evaluation by Air Traffic Controllers will be discussed.
