Abstract

This paper presents a comparison method for traffic efficiency between different air route configurations by computer oriented fast time simulation. This method will be applicable to en route air route design, especially in obtaining the first order approximate value.

The simulation for efficiency estimation requires various models, i.e., queuing models, air routes models, aircraft models, wind models, traffic volume and its distribution models, air traffic (time adjustment) control models. These models adopted the actual, theoretical and other simulation data.

It takes 57 minutes for 67,687 hour traffic simulation on the running condition of 80486 cpu personal computer. The average flight time and the number of time adjustments for aircraft per hour are obtained. The traffic capacity of 2 merge points air route configuration is 11 aircraft per hour larger when compared 1 merge point air route configuration for certain level of flight delay.
