Abstract
With the advances in image media coding technologies and broadband networks, video communication services have spread rapidly. It is important to design networks and systems prior to providing services and to manage quality when providing services in order to provide users with high-quality video communication services. To achieve this, methods are required to efficiently assess the user quality of experience (QoE). We describe typical subjective assessment methods and the latest objective assessment methods used for image media, and trends in international standardization in ITU/VQEG.
