Abstract
What is human ‘sociality’? It is possible that a robot/android-human theater can provide an answer to this question. In this article, we explain the history and background of a robot/android-human theater project (chapter 2), and from the results of analyzing the practice of making directions to actors and robots or androids, we discuss ethnography and conversation analysis in a field where artists and engineers work together (chapter 3). From the results of evaluating the practice of producing a theater, and from the impressions of the audience, we discuss engineering and cognitive science aspects of a robot/android-human theater (chapter 4). Finally, by considering the position of this project in the society, we discuss the significance of a robot/android-human theater in contemporary theatrical performance (chapter 5).
