Date of correction: November 27, 2008Reason for correction: -Correction: ABSTRACTDetails: Wrong : Japanese and Manchurian Sulphite pulps contain Spruce Wood as raw material and they contain mach resin in the Horizontal resin vessel which does not show uniformly in the Xylem of wood. In the cooking operation this resin becomes Ca-Salt which is very hard to remove. This is a cause of Resin trouble. In order to decrease this trouble, the temperature has been raised in the Short Cooking Method. But this makes the quality worse, because of the inter-correlation between fibre quality, resin and cooking temperature. Therefore it is impossible either to improve the quality, or to reduce the resin trouble. The object of this experiment is to demonatrate the industrial value of the following improved short cooking method for correcting the defect mentiond in tht above explanation. Cooking Method. First treatment-Sulphite Cooking. Temp 130°C. Total SO2, 4_??_4.5%. Press 4.5kg/cm2. After treatment-Alkali cooking. Temp. 105°C. NaOH, 0.6_??_1.0% to the Pulp. Circulating time of alkali solution 15_??_30m., Press 4kg/cm2. The result is as follows: (1) The quantity of resin which is contained in the cell did not docrease to any consederable ceteut, but the number of spots due to resin decreased 93%. (2) As spot resin decreased, no more resin troubles occurred. This proves systematically that the origin of resinous pulps is resin in the Horizontal resin vessel. (3) I obtained the easily bleachable strong pulp as follows. Strength 115 pts. Bleachability 9%. Soft fibre, good colour. (4) So2 gas was neutralized in alkali cooking in which operation 1% NaOH to the pulp is used. The operation become odourless. (5) The quantity of resin in residual solution of alkali cooking was 0.4_??_0.85% but it is possible to utilye it making the concentration of risin high by repeation the use of the residual solution. Judging from the above mentioned results, I found the necessity of changing the sulphite single short cooking method. Because, the harmful inter-corelatiori was dissolved and quality control became possible.
