The author examined the sizing effect of a various material viz. rosin, soja bean oil, tallow, lard, bennet size etc., and obtained the following conclusions :
(1) The sizing effect of soja bean oil, tallow and lard is inferior to that of rosin.
(2) When the paper sized with soja bean oil, tallow or lard is dried well at somewhat high temperature, its sizing effect increases beyond that of rosin size, and therefore such size is able to be used for the paper of ordinary quality with considerable satisfaction.
(3) Although the addition of lard to rosin causes a considerable lowering of melting point of the latter, the sizing effect of such size is not seemed to be effectable.
