Abstract
The ozonation of Auramine O as the model compound of diphenylmethane dyes was examined. Auramine O was ozonated to give Michler's ketone as the initial product, followed by the oxidation of dimethylamino side chain.
The active species for the substrate and the ozonation mechanism were discussed.
