Abstract
A new renewal system for concrete roofs by application of prefabricated FRP panels and anchoring which has been already reported was researched its insulation effect by experiments and thermal calculations. The difference of the roof insulation effect between common asphalt waterproofing system and the above FRP panel waterproofing system were compared by loss energy in each case. As a result of the calculation, thermal penetration rate of the FRP panel waterproofing system is a quarter of the asphalt waterproofing system and the FRP system reduces the energy consumption to 55% of the asphalt system. According to temperature measurements in each element, thermal resistance of the FRP system is about four times as much as the asphalt system. An equivalent energy of an outside insulation system is controlled to about 40% of an inside insulation system and energy–saving effect of the outside insulation system is more useful than the inside insulation system.
