Abstract

In this paper, maximum tensile stresses of interfaces between concrete bodies and rendering mortar of wall tile finish are dealt with on the case that ceramic tiles of external walls expand under solar radiation. These stresses are obtained by two-dimensional boundary element analyses under a plane strain state.By the calculated results,it was clarified that the individual functions of ceramic tiles, cement rendering mortar for bedding or backgrounds and cement grouting mortar at joints between tiles in finishing layears had great influences on the maximum tensile stresses and there were quantitative relationships between mechanical properties og these materials and the stresses.
