Abstract
In recent years, fluid-applied polyurethane membranes have been widely used in waterproofing repairs. Although the most important quality of fluid-applied polyurethane membranes is thickness, several factors can influence the accuracy and variability of membrane thickness. In this study, we examined the effects of liquid polyurethane viscosity and the choice of application tool on thickness and workability. We used three different application tools and polyurethane solutions of six different viscosities. Consequently, we observed the best combination for constructing membrane of appropriate thickness with good workability. The best combination is rubber spatula and polyethylene spatula when viscosity is 8 Pa・s (measured by shear rate 200(/s)).
