Abstract

We have evaluated reusability of inorganic-based building materials after peeling urethane-based coatings with N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP). Four types of typical inorganic-based building materials such as hardened cement pastes(HCP), cement and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin composites(C-EVA), glazed ceramic tile(GCT), and unglazed ceramic tile (UGCT) were studied. We concluded that NMP can remove almost urethane-based coatings from cement-based building materials, however HCP and C-EVA absorbed NMP in the process of peeling.
