Development of One-component MS Sealant Applicable to Dynamic Joint.

Part2: Dynamic outdoor exposure test imitating the exterior metal panel wall.

Abstract

In the domestic construction market, two-component sealant is mainly applied to the dynamic joint and the use of one-component sealant is limited. Recently, due to the decrease in the number of construction workers, development of simpler application methods is expected. Therefore, application of one-component sealant to dynamic joint is desired. We have developed a new one-component Modified Silicone (MS) type sealant with improved curing speed and compression recovery properties. In order to verify the applicability of this new one-component modified silicone (MS) type sealant to dynamic joint, we evaluated dynamic outdoor exposure test imitating the exterior metal panel wall. No defects were observed in the outer appearance of developed sealant. The developed sealant has the same performance as the commercially available two-component sealant.
