Abstract

The building Standard Law of Japan was amended to broaden the scope of design flexibility by exhaustively carrying out general evaluations and establishing performance standards in June 2018. The articles 21 and 61 were amended to allow the use of modes of construction other than fire-resistive construction, following the amendament of the article 27 in 2014. Now the construction method of 75 minutes quasi-fire resistive performance other than the eave of the roof is specified in the notification of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. So this report shows the experimental results of the exposed eaves with frieze block with quasi-fire resistive performance of 75 minutes and more, following the experiments of eaves soffit with fire protecting covering to propose the draft of the construction methods for quasi-fire-resistive construction of the eaves specified in the notification of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
