Abstract

Two computer simulations which express the fuel consumption q [kg/h] of small squid jigging boats when fishing lights are in operation, as a function of the rated output of main engine RP [kW] , the rated power of the generator RL [kW] , and the electric power consumption L [kW] of the fishing lights, Were developed. q=fn(RP, RL, L) One is for the proposed generator, a standard brushless generator for fishing boats and merchant vessels, and the other is for a conventional generator for small squid jigging boats. The estimated fuel consumption by the former simulation and by the later simulation was compared, and the effect of reducing fuel consumption by the standard brushless generator was evaluated. The results of computer simulation show that the savings are estimated to be l.8% of the fuel consumption per year, or approximately 58,000 yen per year.
