Abstract
The experimental results of five imidazole-derivatives, i. e. 4-methyl-, 4-(β-pyridyl)-, 4-(β-piperidyl)-, 4, 5-aminomethyl-2 methyl- and 4-(β-aminoethyl)-imidazoles (histamine), of which the former four were supplied by the Pharmaceutical Institute of the University, may be summarised as follows:
1) 4-methyl-imidazole: Frogs and mice are excited, and in larger doses epilepti-form convulsions accompanied by paralysis are produced. They die from asphyxia, the minimal lethal doses being 0.3 mgm. subcutaneously per gm. frog, 0.15 mgm. intravenously and 0.2 mgm. subcutaneously per gm. mouse respectively.
