Abstract
The development of Kansei evaluation model is presented for necktie design using Self-Organizing Maps (SOM). The feature of neckties was retrieved from the design and colors. The multidimensional feature vectors, including Kansei evaluation values, were input to SOM and the maps were formed. This model enables us to predict our feeling and emotion numerically when we look at the design of neckties. The comparison of the SOM method to the conventional one is discussed here and the usefulness of the SOM method is shown.
