Accessing intellectual assets using maps as an interface

Abstract

In this report we propose an intuitive access interface for historical image database. This interface system is build up on a dual map viewer which displays a historical map and a current map simultaneously. We find the spatial correspondences between old and current maps based on landmark location determined from a GIS database. Using this dual viewer we developed an intuitive old photograph retrieval system.
