Abstract
In our previous study of preferences for color sequences of facades, it was argued that subjects are partitioned into two types of groups, one of which consists of subjects who attach importance to uniformity and the other of which consists of subjects who does not. This paper considers effects of variation in building shapes in order to propose a desirable townscape plan for both groups. First, it is confirmed that each group still keeps its own character in evaluating building shapes. Second, both groups prefer a townscape plan with building shapes common within each block but varying between any two blocks. Our time series analyzing model shows that this is resulted from distinct evaluation properties of both groups.
