Abstract
Scrolling text is often used in human Interfaces in which display space is limited whereas amount of information is large. In the scrolling text, the higher its moving speed is, the more amount of the shown information will be, but at the same time, the more difficult to read it will be. The scrolling text must be read easily. In practical human interfaces, besides, it is not sufficient that the letters can be recognized clearly. The sentences of the scrolling text must be understood by users without difficulties. In this study, experiments were carried out in which the scrolling text is shown to users, and the degree of their understanding was measured objectively. The effects of the moving speed of the scrolling text on the users' understanding were evaluated quantitatively.
