Abstract
We often read explanations that show the ways to shops, offices, etc. Some of them are easy to understand, but others are not. In this study, the authors revealed the condition of the intelligible explanations of the way. Two experiments are conducted. In the first experiment, participants walked a route and wrote explanations showing others the way from the start to the goal. They also draw maps showing the way together with buildings, objects, and other surroundings along the route. In the second experiment, other participants evaluated the intelligibility of the explanations. Using these data, the relations between the features of the explanations and the intelligibility are analyzed finally.
