Abstract
The objective of this study is to develop a system that facilitates user selection activities on the Internet. The proliferation of the Internet has contributed to the growing popularity of online shopping. Thus, users are able to choose from a wide variety of options. However, the large number of available options can cause indecision. In particular, buying a gift for a family member or a friend may prove difficult because the buyer must consider not only his/her own intentions but also the recipient's preferences. Our approach can enable a user to make the best choice by streamlining his/her Web search activity. First, we monitored a user's search activity and found that several similar products are compared before a decision is made. Then, we implemented a prototype system that enables users to view multiple windows and conduct searches with various preferences simultaneously.
