Abstract
This report describes our research into setting the mood of conversation for animated agents and robots. The mood of a typical conversation, i.e., enjoyable, exciting, or boring, is generated among its participants. Animated agents and robots can also generate moods of conversation in a human-like manner by introducing rules or models of human conversation. We have investigated mechanisms to generate moods by using animated agents that follow conversational rules. Moreover, we plan to investigate the mechanism by using other conversational rules and developing mood demonstrations for robots. The report describes the detailed approach and the progress of our studies for setting the mood of conversations involving agents and robots.
