A basic study of image background removal from images of steel structures photographed in outdoor environment

Abstract

This study aims to construct a deterioration diagnosis support system for coating of steel structures. This paper discusses an image background removal method, that is proposed on a trial basis, as a pre-processing unit of the system. This method is constructed by a sequential combination of the following three algorithms: Mosaicing, FloodFill, and GraphCut algorithms.
