Abstract

Electronic components can be broadly classified into active components, passive components, and mechanical components. In the past, Japanese companies led other countries in the technological development of some active components such as ICs. However, there are also signs that overseas companies are catching up with Japanese manufacturers. On the other hand, in the field of passive components, such as capacitors, Japanese companies remain in the top class in the world and are internationally competitive in terms of both market share and development capabilities. Therefore, this study compares the technological development efforts of each country in capacitors among electronic components from the perspective of technological priorities in each country.
