Abstract

In recent years, the automotive industry has undergone major structural changes due to technological innovations known as "CASE. This change has shifted the emphasis to automobile safety, and in addition to conventional mechanical failures, new issues have emerged, such as the reliability of automated driving technology and battery-related risks associated with electrification. Against this background, this study clarified structural trends in recalls by classifying, quantifying, and analyzing automobile recall notification information published by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). After classifying the recall notification information, the scope of impact was investigated, and it was found that the impact of recalls is likely to be larger for fuel-related events.
