Abstract
Strongly schistosed granite with protoclastic texture is found at the eastern part of Kuji city, Iwate prefecture. Authors name the granite “Futago granite”.
The schistosity and protoclastic texture of the granite is the result of the movements of the Taro tectonic line during the granitic intrusion into the tectonic area. The process of formation of the protoclastic texture has two stages: the first stage is during the crystallization of biotite, and the second around the time when the rock was soldified.
Such protoclastic granites as above mentioned are also found in a few other localities along the Taro tectonic line which can be traced for 150km along the eastern end of northern Kitakami mountain area.
