Abstract
A 46-year-old man with ulcerative colitis was admitted for general fatigue and edema. Colonoscopy revealed innumerable filiform-type pseudopolyps in the transverse colon and narrowing of the colonic lumen near the hepatic flexure caused by inflammation and polyposis. Localized giant inflammatory polyposis (LGIP) was diagnosed, and a total proctocolectomy with J-pouch anal anastomosis was performed. However, pouchitis occurred 11 months after surgery, and endoscopy revealed LGIP in the pouch. It is thought that physicians should be cautious of LGIP in the pouch after operating for ulcerative colitis associated with LGIP.
