Abstract
A 70-year-old man was referred to our hospital, with a lobulated smooth tumor in the right gingiva. The pathological finding of the biopsy specimen showed signet-ring cell carcinoma. Moreover, computed tomography (CT) revealed the multiple lymph node swelling of the whole body, and positron emission tomography (PET) showed abnormal accumulation in the right side colon. We performed total colon endoscopy, and found type 2 advanced cecal cancer. The pathological finding of the biopsy specimen were the same as the gingival one. We diagnosed cecal cancer metastasizing to the gingiva. The patient subsequently underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but died one year and two months thereafter. This appeared to be a rare case of colon cancer detected by gingival metastasis.
