Abstract
The authors visited the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) office in April 2010. The ASGE has changed to a self-managed organization following a significant restructuring in 2002. This society is currently subdivided into various branches and is developing intensive marketing policies. As part of this, the ASGE is offering several periodical endoscopic training programs and are also promoting international cooperative activities with other endoscopic societies outside the US. It is desirable to reinforce the bilateral partnership between the ASGE and the Japan Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Society (JGES) for the mutual benefit of the two societies, and to ensure their further development through collaborative efforts.
