Abstract
An 87-year-old man underwent colonoscopy as he had felt bloating. During colonoscopy, he experienced left lower quadrant pain. The colonoscope became stuck for a short period of time when it went through the sigmoid colon. A CT scan obtained after colonoscopy clarified that the sigmoid colon protruded into an inguinal hernia. In the worst such case, it would have been impossible to withdraw the colonoscope and perforation of the colon would have occurred. Attention should be paid to the possibility of complications during colonoscopy in elderly men in particular.
